Permanent Memorial Tribute

Permanent Memorial Tribute

The Committee has decided to erect a major permanent memorial – commissioned by local blacksmith and metal artisan, Jim Wallace with design support by Keith Homan. The project has received final approval, and is underway! Goderich Town Council has endorsed the project formally and has approved a location overlooking the historic Goderich Harbour – adjacent to the existing Great Storm historic plaque placed years ago by the Province of Ontario.

We are acting on the suggestion of our Honorary Chairs, Joanne and Keith Homan that we use a collection of foundation stones – saved from the tornado-ravaged Victoria Street United Church, c. 1878 – to create a huge, cairn-type base for a mounted bronze plaque to be created as the base for the permanent memorial structure.
